UMSICHT science award to scientists and media professionals

Innovative action and thinking as well as the cooperation of close to market research and industry are the concepts which the UMSICHT science award wants to push on. Awarded by the Friends of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT this prize, which carries a value of 15,000 euros, provides not only an incentive for scientists, but also for journalists. The possibility to apply for the award exists up to the March 31, 2011.

Application is open to anyone who researches custom-made or works journalistically in the fields of environment, safety and energy. The prize is endowed with 15,000 euros and split on two categories: science and journalism.

In the science category the winner will receive 10,000 euros. Close to market research projects from the area of environmental, safety or energy technology which are not older than two years will be award-winning in this category.

On the other hand the section journalism is approached on all staff of editorial offices, press offices and all freelancers who explain not only complex scientific contexts to researchers but to all people in the world. In the field of journalism two works, each one with 2500 euros will be rewarded.

The prize is under the patronage of Professor Dietrich HW Grönemeyer, chairman of the Science Forum Ruhr and director of the Grönemeyer Institute of Microtherapy, Bochum.

Deadline of application documents is March 31, 2011.

The presentation of awards is part of a business forum organized in cooperation with the WFO GmbH and take place on July 6, 2011 at UMSICHT.
