Subsidized transformation plans for a climate-neutral energy system

Your challenge: Rising energy costs, lack of human resources and planning uncertainties

Making your own energy management future-proof and climate-neutral at the same time: This is the task currently facing both commerce and industry – often triggered by climate targets, reporting obligations and sustainability requirements from politicians, customers or supply chains, as well as pressure to reduce costs.

However, there are a number of challenges on the path to sustainable transformation of energy management: Rising energy costs and uncertainties in the procurement of energy generation and storage technologies, as well as energy-intensive plant technologies, make planning difficult. In addition, many companies simply lack the capacity and the necessary expertise to develop their own energy concepts, evaluate components of a complex concept and implement them. And without a clear roadmap, it is difficult to invest and make the necessary decisions.

Our solution: Subsidized transformation plans for a sustainable and economical energy supply

In this complex environment, companies need practical solutions to ensure their energy supply is sustainable, economical and future-proof. We accompany you on the path to a successful energy transition – with German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA)-subsidized transformation plans according to the Bundesförderung für Energie- und Ressourceneffizienz in der Wirtschaft (EEW), Module 5, which support companies with subsidies of up to 60 percent of the consulting costs (up to €90 000 with bonus funding).

Frequently asked questions about the transformation plan

  • A transformation plan is a company's long-term decarbonization strategy. It includes an analysis of the current situation, definition of target situation, an action plan, and the systematic anchoring of climate targets within the company.

  • External services such as consulting, accounting, conceptual design, and measurement services that are directly related to the creation of the transformation plan are eligible for funding.

  • Companies must commit to greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045 at the latest and set a 10-year target of at least 40 percent GHG reduction (Scope 1 and 2) compared to the reference year of the GHG balance sheet.

  • Depending on the size of the company, up to 60 percent of the costs for creating a transformation plan can be covered by funding programs such as Bundesförderung für Energie- und Ressourceneffizienz in der Wirtschaft (EEW), Modul 5. However, the maximum funding amount is €60 000. It can be increased to a maximum of €90 000 through membership in a network of the Initiative for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks (IEEKN).

  • The transformation plan must be created within 12 months of order confirmation.

  • All Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from energy supply) emissions are accounted for. This is done in accordance with the greenhouse gases listed in the Kyoto Protocol: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), as well as the so-called F-gases (fluorocarbons and perfluorocarbons) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).

  • The reference year describes the point in time from which the 10-year target is set. If you have already implemented measures in the past, it is possible to backdate them by up to two years after order confirmation.
