Interdisciplinary exchange on electrochemical reactor design takes place for the second time

Press release /

After the successful premiere this year, there will be a second edition of the "E3C – Electrochemical Cell Concepts Colloquium" in May 2021: The interdisciplinary exchange on the design of electrochemical reactors will take place on May 6th – as a hybrid event that enables participation both via Internet and on site at the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology UMSICHT in Oberhausen. The main topics are functional components, cell design and fluid flow as well as stack design, testing and sealing technology of electrochemical reactors. Anyone wishing to present his or her research results in the form of a lecture or a poster can submit an abstract until January 24, 2021.

The second "E3C – Electrochemical Cell Concepts Colloquium" will take place as a hybrid event on May 6, 2021.

"The wide international and interdisciplinary interest in the first Electrochemical Cell Concepts Colloquium has shown us that we have hit a nerve: the linking of interdisciplinary expertise in order to use innovations and findings more universally and thus advance the state of research of all electrochemical reactors", explains organizer Jan Girschik from Fraunhofer UMSICHT. "For this reason, the next E3C will also serve the purpose of interdisciplinary knowledge transfer and bringing together experts from different fields of research and application. We are looking forward to very different contributions on commonalities and potential combinations of batteries, fuel cells, electrolysis, electrosynthesis or electrodialysis cells."

Proposals, in the form of abstracts with max. 300 words, for short presentations in English (15 min presentation + 5 min discussion) or posters must be submitted no later than January 24, 2021.

The main topics are

  • cell design and stack design
  • fluid control
  • functional components
  • sealing technology
  • testing and characterization

...of electrochemical reactors.

The E3C Organizing Committee will decide which contributions can be considered for the event.
