Platform for heat transformation tools and measures

Evaluation and characterization of concepts and tools for the decarbonization of the heating sector

Heat planning

The "PlaWaTT" project evaluates existing tools and measures for heat planning.

Project objectives: Make the heat supply climate-neutral

The Heat Planning and Decarbonization of Heating Networks Act came into force on 1 January 2024. It obliges the federal states to ensure that binding and comprehensive heat plans are drawn up on their territory in order to make the heat supply climate-neutral in the future. The aim of the "PlaWaTT" project is to support this transformation: specifically, the researchers are evaluating and characterizing existing tools and measures for heat planning and then making them available via an online platform.

Project benefits: Guidance to local authorities

The platform for heat transformation tools offers guidance to local authorities and other players in the heating market and supports the creation and implementation of individual and greenhouse gas-neutral heating concepts. In concrete terms:

1.    Centralized information: The platform bundles information on heat transformation measures and creates an overview of existing tools and methods.

2.    Decision-making aid: The online platform provides well-founded profiles and analyses of technologies and measures and therefore offers good orientation for local authorities and heating (network) planners.

3.    Guided tool selection: To save local authorities time and ensure that they can find the right solutions, tools are evaluated according to their practical relevance and user-friendliness, for example.

4.    Knowledge transfer and networking: The platform is continuously adapted to the needs of users through the involvement of practice partners. In addition, this regular exchange promotes networking among the players in the heating market.

Project result: Central point of contact for information for heat planning

At the end of "PlaWaTT", an online platform is to be created that will serve as a central point of contact for information and tools for heat planning. It will support local authorities and other stakeholders in strategically planning, coordinating and implementing the heating transition. The tools and measures will be evaluated, categorized and presented in profiles.
